Dash the Jinmenken (ダッシュ・ザ・人面犬 Dasshu za Jinmenken^?) is the leader of a team of heroes from space. He is an anthropomorphic alien jinmenken from the planet Kaizon known for being the fastest being on his home planet and dubbed the "Second-fastest Thing Alive," beaten only by Sonic the Hedgehog. He enjoys being out in nature with his team when they're not active, especially the local park where all major events happen.

Hailing from the planet Kaizon, a world ruled by yokai, Dash is a thrill-seeker at heart. Ever since he was a young pup, he always yearned for adventure, wishing to see the world and beyond. Being a greyhound mix, he has a natural enjoyment for racing against others and running around in general.

Dash is an anthropomorphic jinmenken with smooth, sonic silver and white colored fur covering his body. He is a mix of a greyhound and a husky or wolf, a genetic aspect that contributes to his impressive speed. He has long, pointy ears, fur tufts on his head and the back on his neck in the shape of human hair, tangerine eyes, and a long, fluffy tail. His face covered in white fur and shaped like a human's. He has a softer appearance compared to most jinmenken characters in media, although occasional dialogue addressing him directly implies that some individuals find him unsettling; he sometimes even receives rude comments that call him out on his looks.

Prior designs include an ordinary anthro jinmenken named Boomer. This early design for Dash was inspired by the overall theme of speed and racing. He was originally a gamer who liked playing games such as Gran Turismo, Nintendogs & Cats, or Sonic Adventure 2/Battle. As Boomer, he was a solid gray jinmenken with a white underbelly and mane wearing red speed goggles.

Dash earned the nickname "Silver Cheetah" for his incredible speed and coat color. He enjoys playing games with his friends, going for light jogs in the park without using his powers, and exploring nature. He is ironically the exact opposite of what one would expect a jinmenken to be like, being friendly, outgoing, and welcoming of newcomers. He became fast friends with Sonic and would sometimes challenge him to foot races. He's generally a good sport and takes his losses well, enjoying the overall thrill of racing against another fast being rather than winning. Although he's a nice person, he'll sometimes behave like a more stereotypical jinmenken and fling insults towards people who arguably deserve it; he does this with his enemies from time-to-time. He is a little sensitive, but tries his best to hide it, only showing his vulnerable side when either alone or hanging out with close friends.

Thanks to his extremely-active lifestyle, Dash has a very fast metabolism and eats a lot more than the average dog. His favorite food is a fried knackwurst which he is often seen eating by the locals and even offered on occasion at community barbecue events whenever he and his close friends attend.

Being half grayhound, half spitz-type breed, Dash has inherited enhanced traits of each of his breeds caused by his powers. In addition, being a supernatural subspecies of dog gives him the ability of mirakinesis, the ability to create and manipulate illusions, making him a formidable fighter. He shares much of the same skillset as most speed-type characters in canon Sonic titles, such as speed boosts, spin attacks, and wall-jumping. In addition to these, he possesses his own unique abilities such as illusion manipulation, biting, and running on all fours. He is known to break the sound barrier when running at top speed, emitting a trail of electric indigo-colored light behind him wherever he goes. He is fairly agile and capable of performing athletic tricks while in the air.

• During conception, Dash started off as an ordinary jinmenken named Boomer, but was redesigned for the purpose of an art project for fun; this art project as shown by this page were to imagine what a jinmenken character, and various other yokai species would be like in the Sonic Universe.
  • As Boomer, he was merely a fan of the Sonic games and looked up to the character as a source of inspiration that would drive him towards his goal in becoming a race dog.
  • The idea of a Sonic-fied jinmenken character first arose while watching anime, according to the artist.
  • I was watching Passionate Detective Agency and found it funny that one of the characters is a greyhound, the fastest dog breed while also being a jinmenken, the fastest yokai, and I jokingly called her "Sonic the Hedge-dog." That's when I thought; "what would that be like as a character?"

• Despite being a human-faced dog, Dash didn't actually know what a human was prior to arriving on Earth; as far as he was concerned, humans have similar faces to and were named after his kind rather than the other way around.
• His ability to run on all fours, something all jinmenken can do, is shared with Sonic The Werehog.
• Dash being called a "freakshow" can be perceived as either a reference to Yo-Kai Watch, or simply a derogatory insult against his kind.
• Unlike Sonic, Dash has a house and doesn't drift that much in comparison, feeling too comfortable near the park to want to do so.
  • However, he similarly will never have a backstory, as he is an OC made purely for fun.
• Whether or not he's capable of undergoing a Super State is planned to remain a secret for now.
• Although Knackwursts are his all-time favorite food, he enjoys treating himself to some cookies or beef jerky on occasion.
  • Despite this, he's not opposed to sharing a chili dog with Sonic.
  • Dash doesn't like onions and would prefer minced garlic on his chili dogs.
• A pair of friends are confirmed to be planned to be designed alongside Dash, both being different species of yokai themselves.
• He's definitely not an excuse to inject yokai into every fandom.
